VISA For Working In Thailand

Foreigners entering Thailand are not permitted to work, regardless of their types of visa, unless they are granted a work permit. Those who foreigners entering Thailand are not permitted to work, regardless of their types of visa, unless they are granted a work permit. Those who intend to work in Thailand must hold the correct type of visa to be eligible to apply for a work permit.
The procedures for work permit and visa are as follows.

  1. A foreigner who wishes to enter the Kingdom of Thailand for the purpose of working shall apply for a Non-Immigrant Visa, Category "B" ("Business") at the Thai Embassy/Consulate in the applicant country of residence before entering Thailand. The relevant documents and information of the applicant and his/her employer in Thailand shall be submitted to support the application. Upon his/her arrival in Thailand the authorities will permit the applicant to stay temporarily in the Kingdom under this Non-Immigrant Visa, category "B" for a period of 90 days;
  2. A foreigner who wishes to work in Thailand must obtain a Work Permit before he/she starts working. Once a foreigner has arrived in Thailand, he/she must apply for a Work Permit at the Employment Department, Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare. After he/she has obtained a work permit he/she will be able to file an application for visa extension to the Immigration Bureau and this visa may be extended for a period not exceeding one year.
